Edasseri Govindan Nair (1906-1974) is remembered as a leading light of the modern Malayalam poetry. As a poet and social activist he endeared himself to all classes of people. Oru Pidi Nellikka was selected for Kerala Sahitya Academy Award in 1969 and "Kavile Pattu the Sahitya Academy Award in 1970.
